Burnout is a systemic issue that gives rise to symptoms in individuals, and that's why I really struggle with the concept of charging individuals thousands of pounds for a problem that they didn't cause, can't fix by themselves alone and that will have an outside impact no matter how strong your mindset is or how resilient you.
You can be the most resilient person out there;
but if you're sitting in a beaker of hydrochloric acid you are still going to dissolve.
That's why I offer solutions, information and support at accessible prices wherever possible, and The Resilience Academy is the heart of my business.
This is a safe space for people to share.
To ask for support.
To learn and make mistakes.
You most likely already know a little bit about me and my work; I'm a coach, trainer and consultant focused on burnout, imposter syndrome, stress and resilience as key issues as part of the career sustainability conversation. I've been doing this for 6 years now and work with both private individuals and businesses.
I know lots of things that work, and plenty that don't. But if I streamed that all at you in one month, or 6 months, it would be like a firehose to the face.
So that's why I have a membership.
The first thing you need to know is that The Resilience Academy isn’t new.
The previous incarnation of TRA began in June 2017, ran for 62 months and the average subscriber stayed a member for 40 months. I know that this works and this month I’ve torn it apart, examined what works, gotten rid of what doesn’t and now I’m presenting you something that is more accessible, more flexible and with a lower price point.
The Resilience Academy is for you if:
You are a professional who has experienced issues with burnout or stress at work, or wants to proactively prevent them
You identify as one of the following a people-pleaser, someone who goes above and beyond, is a problem fixer, someone who gives a lot of themselves for others, and that’s caused you issues
You have already tried to make changes with varying levels of success
You want something that offers support, advice and practical tools but you don’t want to spend lots of time, money or energy
What are the features of The Resilience Academy?
Monthly themes, developed with you and around you.
One monthly live training, with notes, questions to take away and actions to consider and implement. Recorded and made available to catch up in the hub - once the recording stops, the QnA, discussion and after party starts!
One 60-90 minute group supervision and peer coaching session each month. This takes place live in Zoom and is not recorded, for the confidentiality and safety of all. Bring your questions on the monthly topic, on what’s coming up in life, what is it you need. Share anonymously, ask live, offer support, whatever feels safe.
‘Homework’, questions, notes, tools, worksheets depending on the topic
A hub of past trainings to watch again, whenever you want.
The Resilience Academy costs £25 per month on a rolling monthly contract, or subscribe to 12 months up front and pay £255
Want extra support? Go PLUS
In addition to all the above, join The Resilience Academy Plus for an extra £10 each month and receive
Group chat hub with Leah and other TRA Plus members - ask questions, share information, get support between calls
1:1 calls with Leah every month - take a monthly 20 minute telephone call or roll over up to 3 months to book a quarterly 1 hour 1:1 video call (valued at over £800 each year)
The Resilience Academy Plus costs £35 per month on a rolling monthly contract, or subscribe to 12 months up front and pay £355
What do we cover in the group?
Topics are focused on helping us be more resilient, on preventing burnout and feeling happier, more engaged and our lives and work being more sustainable (I find this healthier than the work - life balance myth!)
I will be leaning more heavily on my coaching training and will share my continuing professional development with group members. I will also be able to share parts of my corporate work!
During the last month of a quarter I poll members on current events, effectiveness of previous training, upcoming issues and what they most want covered in training, and we set the training sessions for the upcoming quarter together.
Topics can include:
Dealing with difficult conversations
Understanding imposter syndrome
Dynamic resilience tools
A systemic approach to burnout prevention
Understanding and managing stress
Or anything else I can work with you on!
You help to build the syllabus - every quarter I will share proposals and polls to find out what the group needs or wants most and develop the upcoming quarter's content with this in mind.
To give you an idea, here’s the topics we’ve covered over the past 6 months:
March 2023- Moral Injury; the role of your values in your work
What moral injury is and how it differs from burnout and PTSD. The risks and symptoms of moral injury and where you should consider contacting therapy/other support services. The link between satisfying rewarding work and our values and beliefs. Practical ACT-based tools to help you better understand, prioritise and protect your values.
February 2023 - Better Boundaries; more than just say no.
Boundaries are one of those topics we love to hate, right? It feels like an unachievable standard; have better boundaries, do better. But what are they really and how can we effectively implement them to support and improve our enjoyment in our work, instead of using them as a shield and defensive manoeuvre?
January 2023 - Progress over Perfectionism; tools and resources to overcome perfectionism.
Get a deeper understanding of what perfectionism is and how it relates to burnout. Breaking down my definition of burnout I offer an evidence backed pragmatic approach to help create a more sustainable way of working, with simple tools to implement straight away
December 2022: The Role of Restoration & Rest in Resilience
We know logically that we need to rest and recover in order to remain productive at work, but many of us still struggle with being anything less that busy and on the go. I broke down rest as part of the productivity cycle (a key way I have rehabilitated rest in my own burnout recovery) and dove deeper into active and passive rest, replenishment and reward, value and engagement and making ‘down time’ something that is achievable, engaging and enjoyable instead of a nice to have.
November 2022: Identifying & Managing work-based stressors
Work is stressful, we know this. But if we can be more specific about what, how and why then together we can create a plan to deal with it. I introduced attendees to my stress mapping tool, rehabilitating and adjusting our concept of stress and why we can struggle to balance competing demands.
October 2022: Imposter Syndrome
Another key component of my work, understanding imposter syndrome, the history of the research and where many of us get it wrong. A deep dive into how imposter syndrome relates to our work, organisations and environment and a strategy of short, medium and long term actions to manage and reverse the signs
September 2022: An Introduction to Burnout Prevention
Month one I shared ‘an Introduction to Burnout Prevention’ where I will talked attendees through the key definition of burnout, common signs and symptoms, my 3 step process for understanding and investigating burnout, immediately implementable tools to assist in recovery.

Why a membership, why not a fixed period programme?
This membership is set up on a rolling monthly basis - that means you pay for your upcoming month and if at any time you wish to leave, you simply give me one week's notice and we'll cancel your future payments. There is no minimum period you need to stay bar the first month you subscribe to.
This gives both of us an element of fluidity. There's no need to rigidly adhere to training, you can watch again as and when you want to, you can pick and choose the elements that work for you. There's enough variety and opportunity to make this work for you, instead of you fitting your square peg self into a round hole.
The previous incarnation of The Resilience Academy ran for more than 5 years and members stayed for 40 months on average. This membership grows with us and you are welcome to remain a member for as long as it helps you, to leave at any time, and to return at any time if you need to.
It really is that simple!

About your host, Leah Steele
Some of you have known me for years, but for those of you that haven’t, hi, I’m Leah, I’m a coach, mentor, trainer and corporate consultant focused on the issues of stress, resilience, burnout and imposter syndrome. I help individuals and businesses address these issues so that they are more robust and resilient, less exhausted and overwhelmed, and so that we can all have a better, more productive and enjoyable time at work.
I’ve been doing this work since 2016 and have delivered nearly 1,000 hours of 1:1 coaching and mentoring and have trained nearly 3,000 delegates over nearly 100 corporate events since the tail end of 2019.
In my previous life, I was a lawyer (feel free to google Leah Steele Solicitor to see all the stuff I used to do and the companies and people I’ve worked with recently) and I experienced my own issues with stress and burnout that led to what I do today.
I remember all too well feeling overwhelmed, exhausted, scared of what it all meant and unable to get real, reliable, evidence based advice. As a result I spent time, energy and money I couldn't afford on 'solutions' that were about as effective as a chocolate tea pot.
So many years and tears wasted.
Anyway, that’s why what I do now is as low priced, accessible and flexible as possible (whilst still hopefully paying my mortgage each month!). Because I’ve been there, and no-one else should have to struggle alone, crying in the toilets and feeling like a failure.
