Burnout Breakdown - available exclusively in The Resilience Academy
I’ve been doing this for five years now, working with individuals and groups from around the world, and in the last 2 years I have delivered corporate training to more than 1,500 delegates.
I eat, live and breathe burnout and the depth of knowledge I have accumulated through reading, researching, working with peers and hands on time with clients is something that still takes me back at times. Every corporate training I have delivered has been tweaked, adjusted or expanded upon for the individual user group and it’s created a huge body of work behind me.
So I decided to share that knowledge, in an in-depth yet accessible format.
12 weeks diving deep into the work I have delivered to law firms, insurance companies, trade associations, special interest groups and regulators, to give you the depth and breadth of the work I deliver, with immediately implementable tools and resources.
I absolutely could deliver this 12 week course as a stand-alone course costing hundreds or even thousands of pounds (and for the corporate world, that is coming), but I chose instead to deliver it as part of my low-cost monthly membership group The Resilience Academy.
Why?
Because The Resilience Academy is the heart of my work; an informal training environment with hands on 1:1 support, hundreds of hours of content, a private collegiate group, and flexibility, with the best combination of live and on-demand training.
I have been delivering weekly live training through TRA for more than 4 years now, and I firmly believe that we should all be able to access help and support around burnout for a relatively low cost.
Ad a result, Burnout Breakdown is open exclusively to members of The Resilience Academy and I am only opening up 10 spaces for new members this month, to preserve the culture and integrity of the group.
What will be covering in Burnout Breakdown?
Over the course of the next 12 weeks I will be taking you deep into an understanding of burnout unlike anything you may have seen before. The next 12 of our sessions will be devoted to breaking down what burnout is and how we manage and recover from it.
Each session will be delivered within the group and the replays will be available both in this group and in the training hub
So let's look at what and when shall we?
Week 1 - Sunday 19th September, 7.30pm - The Meaning and Context of Burnout.
I'm going to talk you through some of the background to burnout, why I think it's so important, some of the history and development of burnout. Putting burnout in it's current context, as well as where I think we are heading, both in society and in this deep dive!
Week 2 - Thursday 23rd September, 8pm - Chronic workplace stress.
In this session we will break down what this phrase really means, and how to identify and manage those stressors. We will look at fixed and moveable stressors and our response to stress, as well as our approach to chronic stress moving forward.
Week 3 - Tuesday 28th September, 8pm Exhaustion and depletion; easily the most identifiable symptom of burnout but also one we can struggle with most. We will be looking at the concepts of energetic overdrafts, energy in and out, reward cycles and consciously curating work and life to fuel us up.
Week 4 - Thursday 7th October 8pm - Reduced professional efficacy; drowning under your to do list isn't new but we will be looking at cultural and individual approaches to work and reasonable expectation management, dealing with toxicity and the overwork cycle
Week 5 - Tuesday 12th October, 8pm - Negativity, cynicism and disengagement. How do we tell healthy scepticism from negativity and cynicism? How do you regain your engagement to work when it's previously caused you harm. Identifying disengagement behaviours in the workplace. Managing and preventing disengagement flip flopping and overidentification of purpose and esteem.
Week 6 - Thursday 21st October 8 pm - Identifying the stages and progression of burnout. How burnout evolves with us and the behaviours and excuses that keep us travelling along the burnout continuum, even as we think we're healing.
Week 7 - Tuesday 26th October, 8pm - Burnout beliefs - how and why we develop beliefs that make us more susceptible to burnout, identifying and changing these beliefs and switching to a more supportive and sustainable strategy
Week 8 - Tuesday 2nd November, 8pm Identifying burnout behaviours. What are the things we do that perpetuate burnout and conversely, what are the behaviours that can help keep us resilient to burnout? What behaviours can we create and learn to help support us?
Week 9 - Tuesday 9th November, 8pm The role of our experiences and personal history in burnout. Beliefs and behaviours do not develop from a vacuum, and in this session we will be looking at our personal histories and experiences around the meaning of work, and how we can identify and manage those behaviours to support us moving forward.
Week 10 - Thursday 18th November, 8pm Cultural burnout issues. What are the stories and structures in the wider world that keep burnout a live issue? In this session we will be looking at the wider western culture, as well as our industries and closer work environments, as well as how we can more appropriately and protectively respond to them for our greater good.
Week 11 Thursday 25th November, 8pm Burnout Recovery Timelines and measuring growth How do you know when you can or will recover from burnout? In this session we will be looking at developing a longer term plan surrounding burnout and setting up metrics for success and growth, as well as how to identify when we may be slipping.
Week 12 Thursday 30th November 8pm - The Future of Burnout - looking ahead at the development of burnout, how burnout might be viewed and approached in the future, as well as bringing together out own individual burnout recovery and management plans.
All training sessions will be delivered live and interactively via a closed Facebook group and will be available to watch again or on demand via both the group and training hub.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Can I access Burnout Breakdown as a separate course?
A: No, it is only available to current and ongoing members of The Resilience Academy.
Q: What if I decide that The Resilience Academy isn’t for me?
A: That’s no problem; your subscription to The Resilience Academy is on a rolling monthly basis, which means all you need to do is cancel your payment three days before your renewal and no more payments will be taken. No refunds are available, so if you miss your renewal date payment will be taken, but you will have access to the Academy and all it’s resources until your next renewal date.
Q: How do I cancel my membership?
A: You can do this by managing your payment details and membership within MemberVault (where you are taken to sign up) or you can contact Leah directly and she will arrange this with you. Please make sure to give at least 72 hours before your renewal date to ensure sufficient time to get this sorted for you!
Q: This is a group course, I’m worried about confidentiality
A: Completely understandable; I know that I am trying to change the way we think and talk about burnout, but confidentiality is as important to me as it is to you. Many of the members of The Resilience Academy have been with me since the beginning and it is part of the terms of your membership that you do not share information, discussions or identities outside of the group. The Resilience Academy is help within a closed group in Facebook, which means that no-one outside of the group can see that you are a member. If anyone were to breach confidentiality (and it has never happened to date) their membership (and access to all other Searching for Serenity programmes and mentoring) would be suspended and no refunds would be available. I am a former lawyer, I take my confidentiality and that of my clients incredibly seriously.
Q: Will I fit in?
A: Absolutely. We have a wide variety of members, with a real diversity of occupations, interests and demographics. Of course, if you join and decide that it’s not for you, you can of course cancel your membership at any time.
Q: I’m not much of a joiner, is that a problem?
A: Absolutely not. All trainings are delivered by Facebook live within the closed group and are available in the group and in the member’s hub for you to catch up/rewatch at a later date. If you turn up live you can simply observe or ask questions in the chat. Some of my clients take up their monthly 1:1s every month, others catch up once a quarter or even less. There is so much support available and in so many different ways that it’s up to you to make use of it in the way that suits you best!
Q: Can I save up my monthly 1:1 sessions to have one big discussion?
A: Unfortunately not, they roll with your membership, but you might well be amazed what we can get done in a quick 20 minute audio call. If you need more help and support above and beyond the membership, you can reach out to me directly at any time and we’ll discuss further what it is that you need!

Who is Leah and what is Searching for Serenity?
Hi, I’m Leah, the founder of Searching for Serenity, burnout mentor and trainer, avid pet parent and former litigation lawyer. Three guesses how I came across burnout…
After struggling in my frankly ridiculous career as a lawyer, dealing with personal problems and generally trying to keep the world up all by myself I started to sink and fall apart.
Moving forward, I started Searching for Serenity in 2016 to focus on the issues that cause as struggle and stress at work.
My specialisms are burnout, imposter syndrome, stress and resilience.
I have run group courses and 1:1 work for more than 5 years now and since 2019 have delivered corporate training to businesses and special interest groups around the UK, including big law firms such as DLA Piper and DAC Beachcroft, small and medium firms such as Lennons, Crane & Staples and Lamb Brooks, legal teams at regulators such as the Nursing and Midwifery Council, legal trainers including MBL Seminars and interest groups such as Kent Law Society and East Midlands Young Resolution.
I am most often found on Linkedin saying the things everyone thinks but no-one says, near the coffee and cakes at any event or delivering training in my home office.
